Bevan’s marlin triumph

Bevan's first ever marlin - a blue marlin on KEKOA

Bevan lost both his legs in an accident a few years ago but it didn’t make him give up on his dream of catching a marlin. After a couple of days fishing in close, Capt. Luke decided the best chance to catch Bevan a marlin would be to head out wide…and success!!  After a few long days camped out in the chair it paid off with an energetic blue marlin piling on the stinger lure and Bevan was on. After waiting so long for this chance, Bevan wasn’t going to let it slip by and fought like an experienced angler. Congratulations Bevan!  Followed up by another blue marlin and a black marlin on the return to port, what a great end to our regular 2011 Cairns Giant Black Marlin Season.

Thanks also to Ben “Nosto” Bright who joined us on the final two days after Dingo returned to the US. What a great year we’ve had and a big thanks to Dingo as always and Braden on his first year on deck who were a top team and helped many an angler onto their fish of a lifetime!

We have one more live aboard trip next week where we hope to take advantage of the good weather conditions to once again head wide and find a few more late season marlin.
