Covid 19 Information for KEKOA Guests

Health Directions, Covid-19 & KEKOA
As per Queensland Health’s direction, KEKOA has resumed the business of fishing from midday June 1, 2020 when all Queensland tourism businesses with gatherings of less than 20 persons were able to do likewise.
Please note: If you are considering traveling from overseas please touch base. The Australian border is currently closed to all international travellers (excepting New Zealand) and expected to remain closed throughout 2021.

We are operating in compliance to an Industry Covid Safe Plan developed for KEKOA.

We have precautions in place to maintain a clean and healthy environment for all our guests including strict Covid-19 sanitisation protocols and have also completed a thorough risk assessment. The protocols are in place for the protection of both our guests and crew and we ask that everyone abides by crew direction in this regard.

Our team has also completed the required training to achieve the accreditation of Covid Clean including Covid Safe Training for Dining In.

Due to the size of KEKOA we can maintain our regular passenger and crew numbers whilst still abiding by Queensland Health directions which are:
1. Keep 1.5m away from others as much as you can. This does not apply to persons you live with.
2. 4sqm between persons when indoors.
3. Hand hygiene (Sanitisers are available on board in the saloon and bathroom areas.)
4. Respitory hyiene.
5. Frequent environmental cleaning and disinfection.
Your responsibilities as a KEKOA guest

We strongly encourage all KEKOA guests to have appropriate travel insurance in place for their entire trips including their time on KEKOA.

Unfortunately this pandemic has shown us that scenarios we never imagined before really exist!

Guests also have a responsibility to inform us in advance and at the earliest opportunity if they or any member of their party is:
1. Unwell.
2. Isolating because they are at risk of becoming unwell with Covid-19.
3. From a designated Covid-19 Hot Spot.
Regrettably this will mean that member of your group may not attend and if he or she has been in contact with all of your party, cancellation of your trip.

Guests will also be asked to complete a “Passenger Health Screening Form” upon arrival. Copies of this form will be emailed to all clients prior to their trip.

On Arrival

Upon arrival guests will sign in completing the “Passenger Health Screening Form”. Guest temperatures will also be tested upon arrival with an infrared forehead thermometer. Guests displaying symptoms will be asked to disembark immediately.

Our crew members complete the same health screening and undergo regular temperature and and symptom monitoring. All crew have also completed Covid-19 training as per our Covid Safe Plan.

It is important to us to be able to continue to provide once-in-a-lifetime fishing experiences for our guests. Please help us to manage the health and safety of our crew by cooperating with the measures outlined above. Do the same things for us that you are doing to keep your own friends and family healthy and well.

This includes frequent handwashing, covering your nose and mouth when you need to cough or sneeze (sneeze in the crook of your arm or a clean tissue) and observe the rules for physical distancing.
