Another week, another river! Mick and the gang from Toowoomba are back with us after a year’s absence and are straight back into the routine. Fish hard!
They enjoyed a great morning and afternoon sesh yesterday with about 80 barra releases – and a few kept for the table. Although the water here is still very high from the recent rain (meaning Capt. Luke can’t get up to some of his favourite spots just yet) and so there have been no monster barra on this trip yet, but plenty of legals and a couple of mangrove jacks and saratoga as well.
Update: Another 60 barra on Friday added to the tally on what the boys called a ‘top day’, as well as a few other species. The boys pulled up for lunch on a shady bank and promptly spotted a barra swimming in the shallows. Then it was a race to see who could hook it. Seems like Greg won!
Update 1: Another good afternoon session and late boat return yesterday. One word that I heard again was ‘superb’! The boys once again estimate about 80 fish were caught for the day and Dave accounted for about 20 of them in one spot in the afternoon!
