Barramundi Giants!

135 monster barra
135 monster barra

As the clock counts down now until KEKOA departs Cairns for our fully booked Gulf Barramundi Season, the boys have found some time to fish on the weekend and ‘get their barra on’! Luke’s been trialling a few lures that he thinks will smash the barras up on the rivers but it was the ‘old faithful’ Jonesy Rhino that put him onto this monster barramundi at Tinaroo Dam on Saturday.

Measuring in at a massive 135cm, she straightened the hooks on the front treble during the fight so it was a very relieved Capt. Luke who go her to the boat.  Luke’s new PB for freshwater barra is now this beauty at 135cm. His PB for saltwater barra is a whopping 131cm so not that much between them! Weight wise, freshwater wins hands down!

She was swum beside the boat for a healthy release.  Anticipation of a another fantastic barra season is building!
