Barramundi Season Approaches

Queensland’s barramundi fishing season is literally just days away from opening once again (that’s midday on February 1st in case you were wondering!)

As we gear up now for our fourth Gulf Barra Season on board KEKOA, Capt. Luke has been getting some pre-season practice in at the dam (exempt from season closures due to the fact that the fish are stocked).

Not a bad start to the year when your first barramundi of 2013 comes in at 113cms!

The wet season is upon us here in Cairns but apart from the moisture, all is going well.  The little boats have been serviced and will soon be back on the bow. We are scheduled to leave Cairns for Weipa on about 20th March.  Braden will once again be joining us on board and on deck and is looking forward to getting stuck into the barra as well!

At the moment, our 2013 Gulf barramundi fishing season is fully booked, however if you are interested in wait listing for time, or interested in booking for next year (2014), don’t hesitate to contact us!

KEKOA returns to Cairns in July for the light tackle marlin season in Cairns and Townsville and begins her heavy tackle black marlin season in Cairns in late September. We only have limited time left for the marlin season as well so get in fast if you are planning to fish in 2013!

Here’s a link to a photo album from Dave Ferrel on board KEKOA last year for the giant black marlin season. 109 photos!
