Australian Marlin Fishing: Townsville Takes Off

Australian Marlin Fishing: The fishing is hot off Townsville right now!

The Townsville black marlin season has been running very hot in 2012 and over the weekend KEKOA got its first taste of the hot little black marlin action as we moved the boat to Townsville from Cairns.

On the way to Townsville we released 5, 4 black marlin and a sailfish and dropped another at the back of the boat.

The weather was ideal and once again Kelly was able to get some great action marlin shots for our anglers.  Congratulations to Suzie who caught her first marlin, shortly followed by her second and third and her first sailfish.  Talina added another marlin to her personal tally. You might remember it was on the same trip last year that Talina caught her first sailfish.

Enjoy some of Kelly’s photos of the trip below.

Cape Bowling Green off Townsville is considered one of the best Australian marlin fishing destinations specifically for light tackle black marlin. After her annual lift out of the water – for a hull clean – KEKOA will be spending some time at CBG in the leadup to the Mike Carney Toyota Billfish Challenge at the end of August.

If you are interested in a day trip or overnight trip to Cape Bowling Green to take advantage of the wonderful fishing this year, please contact Capt. Luke now on 0428 789 840.
