Light Tackle Black Marlin off Townsville
We will be traveling to Townsville in the first week of August for the boat’s annual lift and still have some time before the Townsville Billfish Challenge, which starts on August 30, available.
The juvenile black marlin have arrived off Cape Bowling Green Townsville in numbers already this year with boats recording up to 7 tags in a day so far. We expect the season to peak in August and September and live-aboard trips staying overnight in the sheltered waters behind the sand spit are highly recommended.
Black Marlin Fishing Cairns Heavy Tackle Season
KEKOA will be back in Cairns for the start of the 2012 Giant Black Marlin Season at the end of September. We have two spots still available – one in October and one in November. Email Capt. Luke or Kelly now if you are interested in these dates or call Luke on 0428 789 840.
2011 results speak for themselves
As 2011 Champions of the Townsville Billfish Challenge, we hope to repeat our success in Townsville again this year with major sponsor Mike Carney (Toyota) returning for the tournament.
Overall, fishing was very good for KEKOA during the 2011 giant black marlin season and we caught big fish for our clients all the way through to December. Our final stats for the season were 77 marlin including 15 fish over 700lbs.
