We say goodbye to the Gulf barra fishing season for 2012 after another great week with Gold Coast City Marina’s Jeff Leigh-Smith and his longtime friends Geoff, Graeme, and Lance.
While the fishing wasn’t red hot, there were still a few quality fish around with closed to 50 released each day. And Jeff also hit a milestone marking his very first metre barramundi with one spot on the money at 1m exactly!
After the end of our week on the Ducie, we made our way to Horn Island and enjoyed some good sportfishing and a feed of mud crab on the way before arriving at the island on dusk. The boys have now flown home to the Gold Coast and Brisbane with their fish boxes full of tasty barramundi fillets while Capt. Luke and Donny now have the task of bringing KEKOA home to Cairns.
Our Gulf barra fishing season for 2013 is already filling fast. If you are interested in fishing with us next year, please contact us via the contact page.
Luke, Kelly and Donny enjoy your rest after another successful season. On behalf of our group thanks for a great “EXPERIENCE”. Safe journey home and see you on the GBR. Hass
Well done with the reporting and photos yet again Kel. It kept us informed and entertained. BTW – Your Grandad is gobsmacked at the numbers and size of the barra, plus the fact that most of them go back into the water……. 🙂
