Gulf Barra Season Week 10: Girls Week

Talina and Suzie and Steve (we’ll call Steve, Stephanie shall we?) joined us for Girls Week/Crew week this year and we decided to do something different and spend the first couple of days up the Wenlock for a change, before returning to the Ducie for the last few days. We had a ball and several looong days on the water again to take advantage of some good late nigh/early morning tides.  The girls had team tshirts made – “Two Hands” for Suzie’s goal of catching a two handed fish (ie. one that is big enough to require two hands to hold). On Sunday morning double success as it happened to be Suzie’s birthday when she caught a 91cm barra beast in the pitch black on a surface lure after a 15minute fight. After a few quick photos, it was released and the girls went back to smashing them on surface in the dark until the sun came up!

Talina also ended on a high with an 83cm at the drain at the back of the boat just before we left the river.  And Stephanie [;-)] got several bigs ones as well.  All in all, several hundred caught and released and two pigs on the bow and arrow as a bonus!
