First few days on the Ducie

We’ve spent the last few days post cyclone-Paul (hopefully the last of the season) in the Ducie River which merges with the Wenlock at Marpoon (Port Musgrave). While the weather has been wet, the fishing has just started to take off. The last few days we’ve had a lot of fun with ‘pop-corning’ barra on the drains. 50+ per session. Small whizzers through to solid 90+ fish mostly on surface lures – awesome, fun action. The current best being 91cm up from 88 yesterday. We’ll be spending quite a bit of time here through the season so its been good to refresh on the lay of the land…or the water actually.

50 off one snag yesterday. Even on the neap tides, fishing has been consistently good!

Looks like you’re a barra legend already Kel. I hope the fishing is just as good when we get up there.

We are counting down the days now – 22 days
