2016 Gulf Barramundi Season starts

If you’ve been following KEKOA’s travels over the years you’ll know it the time of year when we head west for our live-aboard barramundi fishing charter season.

While we welcome our first guests for the season on board tomorrow (the Bonnor boys who first joined us on the last trip of the season last year!), the crew of Luke, Donny and myself have had a wonderful 5 day trip around the tip and were treated to pretty ideal conditions most of the way.

I’ve included a few of my photos from the trip abovr/below. Stay tuned for the barra fishing reports.  Its been a bit of a hit and miss year in terms of rainfall and so we’ll be interested to see just how much water there is on the wetlands and rivers when we start fishing. But it was good to see the usual long tail tuna and Spanish mackeral already about.

We’ll be in the Gulf again until June, returning for the start of the light tackle marlin season.
